Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has issued a strict warning to its affiliated colleges regarding the implementation of the free education scheme for girls. The university has made it clear that colleges failing to comply will face strict action, as multiple complaints have surfaced about institutions still charging fees from eligible students.
According to university officials, the state government and higher education authorities have repeatedly issued circulars and guidelines instructing colleges to implement the scheme without exceptions. However, despite these directives, some institutions have continued to charge tuition fees at the time of admission and even later, violating government regulations.
Strict Monitoring & Surprise Inspections
To enforce compliance, the university has directed the Deputy Director’s Office to conduct surprise inspections at affiliated colleges. Officials will check whether:
- The free education scheme is being correctly implemented
- Scholarship Nodal Officers are appointed in each institution to oversee the process
Colleges found violating the rules will face strict penalties, including possible withdrawal of affiliations or financial sanctions.
Official Warning from University
In an official statement, the university administration emphasized that no eligible girl student should be deprived of free education. Colleges that fail to implement the scheme properly will face strict disciplinary action.
